I bought this DVD player about a month ago. I only use HDMI and I have a vx465 yamaha receiver that allows transmission of sound through HDMI. Here are my thoughts on this unit:
Upconversion + EXCELLENT. I played several DVDs and the picture is really excellent, especially considering the price of the device. I have a 32inches XBR9 BRAVIA Sony and the picture is really cool. I've actually seen worse Bluray transfer a DVD upconverted on this player.
+ Very easy to make region free. The codes are everywhere on the Internet, or in some of the reviews posted previously. It plays Region 2 DVDs without problems.
+ DivX clear. Do not read MKV files.
+ Mini. Its form factor is easy to connect anywhere.
+ Menu and options, despite an inexpensive price tag, it is actually very complete.
